For Love Alone...

The greatest is love. It is love that moves my friend to drop all she's doing and run to me when I'm in distress. It is love that moves a mother to do without so that her child can have. It is love that led Jesus to the Cross. And we love Him because He first loved us.

There are times when we must demonstrate the love we profess for him, by giving up things that we hold dear, or things that give our flesh pleasure. This giving up, this dying to self is one of the most painful things we can do, but do it we must.

Father, it is You who works in us both to want to do what pleases You, and to be able to actually do it. It hurts us Lord, but we lay our lives before You. Be glorified.

Jesus, Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, still be my vision, O Ruler of all.
